With a location that boasts the charm and serenity of Miyazaki Prefecture, this café provides an engaging atmosphere that perfectly complements its exquisite offerings.

At Hyuga Rikyuan, the highlight of the menu is undoubtedly their original blend coffee, priced at just JP¥350. This beautifully crafted drink serves as the perfect companion to their signature sweets. Customers are frequently drawn to the unique sweet treat offerings, particularly during delightful experiences such as the Japanese Wagashi workshops that many have praised. For instance, as mentioned by a recent customer, Annie Yano, the workshops are led by friendly instructors who engage participants in both English and Japanese, adding a wonderful layer of warmth to the experience.

The allure of Hyuga Rikyuan extends beyond coffee and classes. Reviews from patrons showcase the café's standout treats, such as the delightful栗利休 (Kuri Rikyuu), a treat featuring large chestnuts coated in a velvety brown sugar filling, which promises a visually stunning and sophisticated sweetness. Another highlight is the 黄樹 (Kouju), a unique confection combining chestnut paste with sweetened chestnuts—an experience described as a luscious, first-of-its-kind texture that leaves a lasting impression.

Every sweet at Hyuga Rikyuan tells a story, woven together by rich ingredients like domestic chestnuts, which customers have appreciated for their quality. A reviewer remarked on the enchanting 栗のソフトクリーム (chestnut soft serve) as being thick and deliciously balanced in sweetness, affirming the café's commitment to high-quality offerings. This focus on craftsmanship and flavour creates a lovely ambiance where each bite conveys care and tradition.

Parking is convenient and payment options are versatile, including cash, PayPay, credit cards, and electronic money, ensuring a hassle-free visit for all. Whether you're looking to take home delightful souvenirs like the well-loved 栗最中 (chestnut monaka), or simply wish to indulge in an afternoon coffee paired with decadent sweets, Hyuga Rikyuan is both an experience and a destination that you don’t want to miss. As many customers have echoed after visits, the café stands out as a must-visit spot in Miyazaki, promising not just sweet treats but also unforgettable memories.

We recently had the delightful opportunity to attend a Japanese Wagashi workshop in Takanabe! It was an experience filled with sweetness, creativity, and cultural enrichment. We were warmly met by the instructor Misato, who led the class in both English and Japanese. The workshop began with a brief introduction to Wagashi, traditional Japanese sweets, and their ingredients. Guided by our skilled instructor, we embarked on a journey of craftsmanship and creativity, learning the intricate techniques required to shape and mold Wagashi into exquisite works of edible art! With patience and encouragement, we practiced shaping delicate petals, crafting adorable animal shapes, and understanding the art of subtle flavor combinations. What truly stood out during the workshop was the atmosphere of kindness that permeated the room. Despite varying levels of experience, Misato was eager to lend a helping hand, encourage, and share tips and tricks. As the workshop drew to a close, we gathered around and ended with a handmade cup of matcha and ate our sweets. We also tried the most amazing chestnut ice cream! It was a beautiful day and we thank you Misato! You gave us an appreciation of the artistry behind the sweets.
